Viajes El Corte Inglés’ expansion is a significant step in the company’s global strategy and for its new host city. VECI, the leading travel firm in Spain and Latin America, aims to increase its presence and influence in the United States and, as CEO Jesús Nuño stated, “which other city would offer us the advantages and access that Miami provides.”

Juan Carlos Basabe, International Sales Director for VECI, explained that the firm had established a small office in Coconut Grove in 1997 to support its main office in New York. Although the Big Apple is a force to be reckoned with, he says, the decision was made in favor of Miami.

“But, for us, besides this city being the door to Latin America, it is also host to forty percent of Spain’s multi-national corporations; they have a strong presence in Miami and corporate travel is a very important aspect of our business. In addition, there’s cruise travel. Our new website,, is, without a doubt, fabulous. We intend to further develop our relationship with the cruise lines. With this move, we want them to know that we, the top cruise sales organization in Europe, are betting on them and on the US market.”

Most importantly, VECI wants the corporate traveler and the US consumer to know that it is placing its experience, relationships with hotels, airlines, and cruise lines, its tour operator, TourMundial, and its immense buying power at their service through its website,

The US headquarters of Viajes El Corte Inglés and will occupy the twelfth floor at the Latitude One International Business Center. With more than 800 offices throughout the world, VECI is an affiliate of El Corte Inglés, a 70-year-old company that operates Spain’s most prominent department stores.
